Any of y’all have any suggestions? Brother might come up here so we can go one weekend later in the year when the season opens. I’ve been researching it and have found sandy sanders wma, witchita mountains, black kettle, and mountain park. Any of you have any info on them?

Interested in hunting hogs too? PM me. I hunted a place in Geronimo when I was stationed there 4 years ago. The rancher calls me from time to time wondering when I'm coming back to kill more hogs.

Thanks, Dinny

I don't believe Wichita Mountain is open for any hunting beyond the draw hunts.

I've seen plenty of turkeys at Black Kettle in the Fall, but have never hunted them there (I usually hunt the Western areas). I will say that place is busy as can be during deer season, and as sprawled as the place is, you'd be best served with some scouting ahead of the season. Have a few different backup spots picked out in case 8 other hunters decide to march through your hunting area. It may not be quite as bad for Spring turkey though.

Sandy Sanders is pretty rugged, so bring your good boots if you're going to hunt there. I've not spent too much time there, but I have seen turkeys over on the Eastern side of the unit.

I've never hunted Mountain Park, but with its proximity to Lawton, I'd imagine it gets pretty busy.

Also, keep in mind that most public land won't let you hunt turkeys in the evening in Oklahoma.
