Even if the Feds would turn management over to the State my guess is, with our current Governor, the probability is zero. We sure need a season. You are 100% right! Not a chance at the state level! Chris

In some areas near me, wolf tracks outnumber coyote tracks. Its actually hard to find an area that lacks wolf tracks.

About the same odds of MN although if the feds gave the greenlight tomorrow I believe we'd have a season next year.

Well think about it if a thousand wolves take 15000 steps a day. That’s a lot of tracks lol. Geez Chris. It’s not like I was hunting the same 640 acres for days. You always have a different way of thinking. But If every one had the same thoughts? Then someone is not thinking.

I am not as pessimistic as many of you are. Management of species through seasons, research etc. has long been the standard here in WI. In fact in many cases there is a good chance that science may well be lifted up when it comes to managing wildlife.
Bryce Here's to hoping for science based management Something that has been lacking for some time under more than 1 administration.

Yep. Even some dem' s realize we need a season. I cut wolf tracks almost daily just east of you.

And just to let y’all know. I did fill my (12 preference point) bobcat tag. 35# tom. I’m done applying for them. 12 more years of applying for another, will put me @ 65. I only be able to fish by that age. Congratulations! Details? I've been hearing of tons of incidentals

Argonne, Laona, Hiles. I hope you ate at Main Street Ed's in Argonne. Great food, reasonable prices. My golf partner lives on Pine Lake in Hiles. We ice fish it a little. My hunting camp is midway between Three Lakes and Monico. Tons of wolf tracks and lots fewer deer than just a few years ago. I too quit applying for a cat tag. I'm 67 and won't live to see a permit. The DNR's science based bobcat counting is a farce. Every frozen creek up here has cat tracks and you can't set for canines without a catch pole to release bobcats. Congrats on the 35 lbr. That's a great cat.

I think you mean Commissioner, Bernie. The concern is valid but probably well above her head, at the Governor level. Yes I mean commissioner. Hope she doesn't have too much influence in these things.

Yep. Even some dem' s realize we need a season. I cut wolf tracks almost daily just east of you. There are a few as well plus west and south although you are in a better habitat. With Minnesota's new DNR director there is no chance we will have a wolf season until she is gone. JMO Why do you feel that way. I think you mean Commissioner, Bernie. The concern is valid but probably well above her head, at the Governor level. Yes I mean commissioner. Hope she doesn't have too much influence in these things. I believe and although I could be wrong, the language for a wolf season is still place.

Crazy thing is with all the supposed pressure on these fragile wolves out west with over the counter licenses and liberal seasons, they now offer bounties to try and get them in check. ( I do not think this will work either ) With all this evidence why can't people see the forest but for the trees?
