I haven't been on here for a few days. Last Wed. I suffered a stroke on my right side. A few years ago my Dad had a stroke. He told e afterward what it was like. He told me then the worse thing about a stroke is "It don't hurt, he darn thing just don't work". Now I understand what he was talking about. I first thing I noticed was I was having trouble tracking. It seemed I just couldn't walk right. Of course, I blew it off and grabbed my old cane. I was in the garage anyway. Maybe I just stubbed my toe. Then I picked something up and it fell from my fingers. Hmm, maybe I just didn't grab it right. I had to go to the funeral home that evening. A dear friend's son had passed away. As I was standing in line, I lost my balance and had to grab ahold of jay, my friend's brother to keep from falling. I didn't understand until then what might have happened, but it couldn't happen to me. So I sat down until the services were over. I called my daughter after I got home and told her what was going on. She asked if I needed to go to the hospital. I, of course, said "NO, I will be ok." The next morning I called her again and she left work, picked my stubborn hide up and we went to the hospital. I was given all kinds of tests, poked and prodded everywhere. The Dr. told me what I knew, but didn't want to admit. I had suffered a stroke on the left side of my brain. That affected my right side. I was lucky. It isn't a bad stroke. I talk a little funny. My right hand drops things and my right leg is week and buckles when I least exspect it to happen. I spent 2 days in the hospital. Tomorrow I start therapy here at home. It is going to be a slow process but I will get better. I know it took me a time to compose this post. For some reason I keep hitting the wrong keys. I guess I will have to hang up my hip boots for this season. Keep on trapping my Brothers. Catch one for me. Tom

Sorry to hear this but glad it was only a small one. The preschool/babysitter we use had one last summer. He ended up losing vision in his right eye. I took him deer hunting a few times and its sure sad to see him that way. I will keep you in my prayers and hope for a full recovery. Jon

MB750, I don't know what your general health issues are, but I have none of the normal things that would make it look that I would be prone to having a stroke, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, etc.. But the propensity to have a stroke runs extremely high on my mothers side of the family (they are all Scandinavians, a risk just itself).
I get my carotid arteries scanned every few years just to stay on top of things. In this day and age it's really quite easy to stay on top of potential health problems. It's just like checking the oil and fluids on your rig; ignore it and you're sure to have problems.
