Nice! I was hoping for one before the storm hit but no connection. We got about 8 inches then it started melting yesterday morning. Now it's -1 and frozen stiff. All my traps are iced in.

I have 15 sets out as well! I have a funny feeling unless I use tons of antifreeze I ain't gonna catch anything! I can walk on top of the snow without going through. I don't expect a fox to go through and hit my pan!

I used to use salt and it worked great with new of the year waxed traps. But as soon as I caught anything they would start to rust. Or is non-iodized salt different cause I just used regular salt that the feed mill delivered.

I do the old style lye, dye, and wax. I had tremendous rusting issues when I used salt. I also was pretty sloppy that year and all of my trapping stuff was in a five gallon bucket or two. Including skinning gear. My salt bottle got a big hole in it and since I didn't need the salt for a few days I didn't notice it. On top of that I salted hides instead of drying on boards. If it was made out of metal, it was rusted, BAD. All of my wire stretchers were rusted too since I didn't have any fur on them. IMO salt just sucks for maintaining quality traps

I didn't hear or think about dry grass until this fall when Hern told me. By that time the grass was all gone and dead. Next year I will make sure to collect some dry clippings.

Not much going on here, it’s -30 out with the wind chill today. I’ve been doing some beaver trapping here and there, and managed to catch a few kits at a nuisance property. It must have been a late litter as they were really small.
Ave don't go where the beaver don't flow
