I was told an adjust pan tension on no. 3s , so a 3 1/2 lbs hammer with handle on middle pan would not spring trap but a slight more tension would, I had on hair trigger but not quite the most hair trigger u could get an when set hammer with handle on pan, it would move pan , very slow an fire trap after 30 seconds, does that sound good? Want to minimize coon catches , also when setting out beaver, should u have at hair trigger so slightest movent fires trap or hair trigger , but takes more than slight movement down ? If take more slight movement to fire. , It reduces coon catches more , if step on pan

Can we get this re-written in full sentences?

Yes, you want pan tension on Beaver Traps. This especially helps to avoid muskrats when you have a food lure, bait sticks, or any slicked up mud. I don't know how much pan tension it takes to avoid coons, but setting for back foot sets does help.

I prefer to have some movement to the pan before firing. With pan tension that beaver has committed its weight to set off the trap.

It be for mostly front foot catches, the pan fires easier with hammer an weight on it if in extreme hair trigger than it does with close to hair trigger. I did this last spring with half dz sets for short time an got 5 beaver, no nontargets, loosen pan tension last fall , never had much success with beaver with hind foot catches, way back an deep. Mostly nothing
