I mostly use a Browning Buckmark in 22 long rifle. If there are a lot of squirrels in the area, I use a Ruger 10/22, with a cherry wood stock, that I got in 1986, for my 16th birthday. I used to use a Crossman 2100 a lot.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Currently carrying a 10/22 since my MKII was showing too much signs of trapping abuse. The MKII is away for a cerakote job along with my Win 9422. Thinking about getting the 10/22 done next.

Use a peeled stick out of a beaver dam for dispatch alot. Just depends on location.

Heritage rough rider .22lr. Does the job at 5 feet or less, I don't know that I'd trust it to hit accurately at any more than that:)

What ammo are you using for dispatch?

I have one in 22 lr over 410. Nice little gun and close to perfect as an all around trappers gun.

S&W 317 3 inch with CCI 22 short HP. Gave up CB shorts after finding too many mashed out on coons skulls, not penetrating and having to shoot them again with the long rifle up next in the cylinder.

The 22mag on the double badger is accurate as can be expected for a short barrelled rifle.I have shot fur with it beavers mostly but a few fox also.
I have taken hundreds of grouse with the gun(410)
Cant beat an over\under for versatility, for both fur and potting meat, and the fact that it folds in half makes it a great gun to carry on the bike or snowmachine.

Another Browning Buck Mark guy here. I liked the first one so much I bought a spare. And easy to toss on a set of Hi Viz sights (if you didn't buy the model with them installed).

Law Dog nailed it, I have one like his and a brushed finished aluminum, also a cross draw advocate, just make sure you snap your holster shut, can't tell you're carrying it.

Heritage Rough Rider. Cheap and dependable, good enough for the trapline. .22 shorts work like a charm.

I have a pair of Ruger Six 22s, one being stainless. I don’t take them on the trapline, my go to gun is a 40 year old Rohm RG 22 ( same model that Reagan was shot with). I bought it new in 1977 for $25, and it’s taken a beating over the years. The only thing I shoot on the line are coyotes and the occasional undrowned beaver.

Marlin model 60 that I bought for $75, it's been a great little gun but it's starting to look pretty rough

I use a browning buckmark, but have reserved my Great-Grandpa's savage 101 pistol for all my "1st catches". I followed him every Fall saturday morning on his line when I was in elementary school before age made him hang it up. I will never forgot "my" 1st red fox!!! I have the original box and original handwritten sales receipt. I bet the mold flew when he opened his wallet to pay for it.

I carry an Ithaca 49 that I prettied up a bit or a Ruger single six. A few years ago I lost the single six when the holster loop broke. Unfortunately I ran over it with a side by side and buried it in the mud before I found it. Cleaned it up and still shoots great

Bought a .22 revolver for the trapline a couple of years ago, but I still use my Ruger 10/22 more often than not.

North American arms pug 22 revolver. I like a gun that fits in my back pocket although it is not very accurate.

I use the Rough Rider as well. I usually keep the Magnum cylinder in mine. Great little cheap trapline gun.

The M63 S+W has been my favorite since the late '70's.It rides in a ful coverage, flap shoulder holster these days.Weighs 25 oz and even all the internals are either stainless or flash chromed. They only did that for a couple years.

I have a Nylon 66 in Forest Green, my father bought it for me from a Doctor, I was mowing his lawn. When my father paid for it, the Doctor's wife handed me the money and told me to buy some ammo. I was one pretty excited young man for sure!

Same here! Mine is the Target Model with a 6-7/8" barrel, can shoot a nearly ragged hole at 25 yards every time.

I have carried a single six for many years. A couple years ago it was looking a little rough so I had it cerakoted. Kinda wish I hadn't as it lost some of its "character". I keep threatening to send it off for a mag cylinder but never do.

I got my single six in the 60s and have used it ever since. No transfer bar and a lot of holster wear, but serves me great. Don't like the semis as I don't want spent casings near my sets and just use shorts. Cant see why anyone would want anything with more power for a fur gun.

for years it was a single six but my old eyes and open sights no longer go together. so i switched to ruger mark iv. got the model that specifically comes with the rail attached and factory threaded for suppressor. opted for red dot style sight. not sure its the most accurate in that configuration but i can hit things with it that could no longer do same with single six. i too had trouble getting use to the spent brass hitting the ground but eventually kinda got over it

Palmetto State Armory Colt replica .22 made by Walther a downsized version of a 1911, I just ordered one will see what it's like. My buddy has a Lima scaled down 1911 that I really like!

heritage rough rider. max effective range on that is about 4 feet. it seems to be getting less and less accurate. probably should clean it some time this decade.
