Last year I averaged 15 on fox and half didn't sell. I caught 8 when I was snaring coyotes, but didn't ever set for one intentionally.

All I can say is my area must be terrible for mink quality, all were caught around Thanksgiving into December and I have mostly IIs.

I didn't have many mink, but more than half are labeled skins, all caught in December after ice up in bodygrips too.

My prediction fur will sell, some won't. Some shippers will be happy, some won't. Then there will be another auction in a couple of months.

Don't know the values or prices we will receive but I am more optimistic today than I was in August, October and December. If some fur is moving the buyers can buy as even with an uptick prices are still low enough to not curtail replacing with some fresher goods.

So let me get this straight. You nafa fellers bundle your fur up, give it to somebody you dont know, hope it gets to a foreign country intact, wait for a few weeks for the auction dates, hope that your furs are put in the correct lots, hope that the fur grader knows his butt from a hole in the ground, get half your fur sold at whatever nafa deems you want for it, wait another 4 months and hope they sell the other half, pay storage on it if it doesnt sell, and pay a 6 to 9 percent commission on top of all that? I think I’ll just sell to the local buyer.

I was paying attention. I thought you were a "Groeny rocks" person. Guess that has changed - right? Knowing the buyers in Washington, pretty sure I have this figured out if you are indeed selling local. smile

To each his own cat daddy. I take my fur to Dennis Milton, he is my nafa shipping agent. We have a nice short chat and he and I are both on our way. I only drive a mile.from.home.to drop it off and in my experience prices are as good or better than any local buyer, which the closest is 35 miles away, and they put my money in my bank account. I have done local buyers, local auction and still sell for what someone else thinks it is worth or store it myself. My fur at nafa sells while I do whatever I want. Sure I may wait for money but it takes me less than an hour to get fur gone. Like I say, to each his own. My choice and it isn't as risky as you make it out to be....

Wish I had more time to trap....
