Hauling a load out to the camp today then all 5 of us will go out for a few days starting Monday. Looking forward to spending some family time at my camp. I plan to do some rat trapping maybe set a few beaver traps. Still have a few lynx traps out but Marten and wolverine are not targets anymore. Marten gear has been snapped since late February. Hopefully the wolves made their rounds or will make their rounds when out there.

I left town last night and got nearly half way to my camp when I heared a loud bang from the right side of my machine. Something in the gearbox. I found that I could crawl along but once I hit about 38 km/h the banging would start again. I left my loaded sled at a friends nearby cabin and made it home slowly but surely. Fresh wolverine tracks on my 3 hours old trail coming to town. I’m just about ready to try again, with the bearcat this time. A little louder and smokier but I’m not picky.

Terrific picture of you sitting with your daughter Ryan. Your next lesson for her can be to straighten daddy's tie those few times in life he wears one. Can you tell I'm simply jealous that you have a daughter and I do not?

Nice to have more than one machine, eh? . It is when the backup machine stays healthy. I lost 2 wheels on the bearcat when we were out at camp Every rat house I checked was open but the muskies aren’t coming up to feed. The few I caught were very healthy and plump though. Still picking up a few lynx too. Busy with catching up on skinning mostly. I’m going to clean my shotguns today after I stretch the 8 lynx on the floor. My one fox this year. I’m going to try get a few more next year. Already got my plans for next season. I learned a few good lessons this season and it’s not done yet. I kept a few good spots set for lynx so I have something to look at during cleaning up trips. Depending on the weather I’ll think about carrying something bigger than a 22 magnum soon.

3 big ones. . I have to start skinning a few for taxidermy. Every trapping season produces a few exceptional lynx and I just don’t like cutting the feet off of those ones. Anybody see a big difference in price for taxidermy skinned compared to being skinned for the trim market? I haven’t really noticed a huge difference.
