I keep my snaring gloves in a gallon zip lock. They are used only for setting. I might consider setting bare handed but I ain't tough enough to spend a couple hours without gloves when the temp is hovering around 0.

I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

Touch one leaf bare handed along a deer trail then hang a camera, I'll bet every deer that contacts that leaf gets analyzed by their nose. I for one do not touch traps or snares without clean gloves after they've been treated..

Common sense catches alot of fur..

I dont know if gloves will stop any or all human scent on equipment but I've seen coyotes cross my path I walked in on while deer hunting (and I'm as scent free as I can be deer hunting) up to 2 hours after walking to my stand freak out and RUN the other way. I've also seen tracks in the snow where a coyote wouldn't come within 30 yds of where I've hopped over the fence, walked 30 yds dumped about a gallon of tainted deer meat on the ground and left in the first night. If you dont think human can scare coyotes I will disagree with you. Can you ignore human scent and catch coyotes, I believe yes but theirs also some that you will spook IMHO.

I can believe that. I have never seen it happen around here but we dont get too much snow around here and it doesn't stay around very long. I actually had some following me back to the truck barking at one night after deer hunting. I also believe coyotes can act a little different in one area compared to other areas. I put out about a hundred mock sets last year and 36 in the last month testing lures and one of the interesting things I've seen is after I have visited a set on foot about 3 or 4 times it becomes difficult to get a coyote to work a set. I will still see fresh sign in the immediate area but they seem to become cautious enough not to work a set. Just something I've noticed in my experiences.

The animals know you are in the bush, they are curious what you are doing, especially canines. To them you are just another animal in the bush.I always bring some bait to jackpots when checking even if its just a bucket of guts. Before long the canines will be drawn to your set when they cross your skidoo or bike trail because they have correlated your scent with something good.
What you don't want to do is induce scents where it is un natural, like bait smells on snares. This will alert them also bringing someone new on the line will put them off for a while until they find out what the new animal is doing there. [Linked Image]
