The Russian Sables in western Russia are the smallest, the Urals have the smallest body size and the further east you go the bigger the body size. Kamchatka and the Barguzin region seem to produce the best and the biggest. They will be XXlg and XXXlg skins. Check SAGA's website with the sable offering and you'll see 91% of the sable offering are XLG and XXLG. They have not adopted separating out the XXX's like the Both North American sales have done a few years back.

The Russians stretch them differently-about a foot wide and a foot long. Pretty tough fur handling in the past, but the wild skins are improving in handling all the time. Maybe due to being able to keep the revenue from the skins for themselves after the fall of the Soviet Union? Before they had no incentive to handle them properly.

"Poor mans sable" dirt? Kind of a reach there.
Those mink FHA sells wont bring squat and I bet will be bought back.
You ought to hope the ranch mink market comes back. Then your marten would bring better prices. I wish mink ranchers could average at least $60 on their crop. Then I'm making money. For some reason they can keep losing money year after year without figuring out the solution to their problem. Unfortunately, that makes it my problem. Now we are getting somewhere, dirt. The solution to the ranch mink problem is twofold. Too many produced and there needs to be another big fashion trend with the short haired furs. The overproduction is quickly being addressed. I am hearing now less than 25 million skins being produced for next year. I think it will be a little more than that but production is coming way down. Just got to get rid of the surplus which will take time.

I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.
