With the break over price of today's premium cast jaw traps, I wonder if it isn't a better investment to buy some more Newhouse 3 and 4 DLS. My number 2 Montgomery Round Jaws and my Number 3 Montgomery step in seem to still catch alot of critters, they work just as good in NY as they did in AZ & NM. I guess we will see whats available at convention time.

In my experience the older Newhouse springs get weak over time. If you're catching yotes and cats, I'd think the present prices would lessen the pain of new cast jaw traps. Plus, they're easier to carry and bed than DLS!!

If your goal is to catch critters why are cast jawed traps your priority? The cast jaws are not the reason the traps catch.

But maybe you think cast jawed traps are the best.....and you think they are like Cadillacs or Lexus....or Benelli...or...

If you are a trap collector...please disregard my confusion...

i'm actually pretty impressed with the new newhouse #11's,nostalgia is one thing but if'n you are using them why not take advantage of the many upgrades that have came along.

I don't think cast jaws help me in the least but theres just something about a cast jawed trap ……...it doesn't look cheap or chincy.

Older Newhouse loosing spring strength? I certainly haven't ever had that experience.

Yeah, I like my old Newhouse alot, I never had any problem bedding them either. I just thought I would test the waters to see how people felt. I just purchased 1 Number four NH and 3 number three NH, along with a 3n (govt stamped): the other day. They seemed pretty strong to me.I will be setting them next year on my line. I bought 30 3N last year from out west, only got 6 of those left. I was giving some coyote lessons and the 2 students each bought a dozen, you know how things are (oh well) I hope you all have a great season next year.
