Nice representative photo of chaga on birch!

Sometimes it is the size of a golf all, other times bigger than a bowling ball and everywhere in between. I know of two growths that are immense, both are safely 30' or so up their trees. I'm keeping an eye on them.

I had bladder cancer a year ago with a 90% chance it would come back I took chaga for six month an now a year late still no cancer

How do you drink it? I tried it in tea and it tasted like dirt! do you doctor up the taste with honey/maple syrup?

I grind it and put two heaping teaspoons of it into a coffee filter, tie it shut then simmer it for an hour or so. DO NOT BOIL Chaga.If your gonna use it in chunks you gotta simmer allot longer. Doesnt have much taste ,I put a little honey in with mine. You can also tincture it . Chaga can be used in place of anything liquid in recipes and such . Chaga hot chocolate, Chaga ice tea,Chaga ice cubes and the list goes on.

I drank Chaga tea for more than a year. Didn't notice any effects but didn't hurt me either. Be careful to only harvest from birch trees. Black cherry trees have similar looking fungus growth but it is poisonous.

Saw it on a tv show here. They said only grows on birch trees and to collect in the winter or fall is best.
Birch trees around here have taken a beating with disease. Guessing not to easy to find.

We get it growing down my way. Although it isn't real common, I usually don't run out of it. I have found where others are now collecting it in a few spots. I never saw that until somewhat recently. I have never sold it, but I guess I would if I had a place to sell easily.

I'm not sure I could find a birch tree here to look for any. Thats the white peely bark one right? Yeah those are far and few between here. But you can find Sycamores all day long, thats our white peely bark tree.

Around here if you find a stand of white birch most of the time one of the bigger trees will have some on it.

That's where I thought I had saw something similar. In our higher elevations there are a wild fire cherry that forms similar looking growths. Glad you mentioned that!

I'v drank it for 3 years now. Get it from fellow trappers from Maine.
I drink it as a replacement for regular ice tea.

How is it with rye whiskey?

Black Knot is what its called,not good to ingest.

You can also find chaga on oak and beech but it is valueless.For chaga to be the good stuff it has to be on a birch.Best to buy from someone reputable.
