Your bull looks good enough to eat. If you cut his weight, he will breed better and be safer to use on smaller heiffers.

His attitude is still good...might be because I raised him from a fall calf. He still moves off when I raise my arms and walk towards him ... "Git-bull, wsheet whsheet Get bull yah!"

Keith, he is in a 40 x60' pen water and hay... TM block until mid July to breed.

When looking at physical attributes yes, its a pretty good indicator. The best is with EPD’s but even with them I still look at the head size because experience says smaller head easier calving, but there are always exceptions.

Honestly, we bought him, or contracted to but him a week after he was born. The Ma cow is Angus/hereford/semental. Cross. Black w white stripeed head. His father is a Big dark red angus. My Wife saw that calf and said " if that calf is a bull calf, I want to buy him for our bull" so we contracted wit the 92 year old owner to let him suck all summer and buy him in the fall. Otherwise he would have been cut and sold as a steer.

Probably not the best way to Know your Bull... as a breeder or His possible conformity anyway.

Having a lot of angus and Hereford in him will help a lot, they are know for their easy calving, the semental can go either way but if the guy that owned it has been in it that long I would say he doesn’t like to pull calves. A neighbor did the same thing with one our bull calves once turn out to be a good bull, never pulled a calf and they grew good, so I wouldn’t be nervous, like said before he looks good.

A good bull will have qualities in future offspring, such as birth weight, calving ease and growth. You he has those qualities and the calves are satisfactory for you he is a good one. Disposition is a big deal in my opinion also.

My brother got a Scottish Highlander bull from a local petting zoo and since the calf had been in so much human contact, understandably it was like having a big puppy around. It's disposition seemed to carry on to his calf's as the too seem to be reasonably calm to work with. I'm sure much of that is credited to the bull having a good disposition to begin with, but sure helps when having to work with or around the bull as well as the rest of the heard.
