Well, it seems as though the general consensus is not to use decoys. That works for me, thanks for all the replies. I am going to try hard to break the curse this year lol.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Just deer hunt them. Scout, and know where they are going to be. Get in there, yelp a couple times every 30 mins or so, and wait on them to swing through. Not as fancy as a Primos tv show, but it'll put a bird in the oven.

What part of district 3 are you in? I’m in Ashland county and we have a decent amount of turkey here. I’ve had times where toms didn’t give decoys a second thought, and other times where they came running in.
Ave don't go where the beaver don't flow

The farmer that I trap and hunt groundhogs and coon gave me permission to turkey hunt on his place. I only cut a couple tracks in the winter, I don't think it holds a lot of birds but will start scouting next week.

I starting being successful on gobblers on a regular basis when I dedicated all the time I could to being in the woods. Take a nap between 8 and 9 if you have to, but stay in the woods. Carry a small binocular with you. You will be surprised at what you see going on out there that you miss with the naked eye. They have a way of staying behind a tree and peeking around at your calling location. I have seen a tiny red spot of wattle along the side of a tree when I thought the woods was vacant of turkeys. And, yes I did kill that silent bugger. I have observed gobblers reactions to other hunters calls at a distance and then moved in for the kill when that hunter gave up. Decoys can be fun and effective, but they are not near the top of my list of what I need to be successful.

If I'm hunting fields, field edges, large openings in timber I use a decoy with a lot of success...bow... Hunting timber dense or low visibility no decoy..I've had a lot of Toms come in hot once they see the decoy they start putting like crazy and off they go....most cases that's been my experience... My best hunts 9-1pm...
Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes...... Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....
