looks like Monday we are gonna have to put my beagle smudgie down. shes having mini seizures and the vet has tried his best to get them under control......the only successful dose is keeping her asleep.........not fair to smudgie to keep her sedated ......

smudge has battled seizures for 10 years.........I think her body is tellin us its time. sure gonna miss her! I went and built her a coffin today......too good of a dog to not put her down right.

Sorry man, I feel your pain. My old retriever is laying here on the floor as I type. I pray that he dies in his sleep. A better dog I could not have had. Hang in there.

I feel for you as I just had to put my little sweetheart down a few weeks ago due to kidney failure. Very difficult decision to make but if the rolls where reversed, I would hope they would make the right choise when the time came for me as well. Be glad for the time you've had together, I'm sure both of you have been blessed.

So sorry to hear, my 11 year old beagle Miley started with seizures when she turned 9. Phenobarbital stopped the seizures so far. Alas ,she was just diagnosed with bladder cancer... gonna keep her comfortable till I can’t...

I am sorry to hear this. Makes your heart sink, but you are doing right by Smudge. She'll meet you in the happy trapping grounds in the sky. My condolences.

I'm sorry to hear what your going through. Anybody that has been a dog-owner long enough has gone through this and it never gets any easier.

It sounds like you are making the right decision for Smudgie.

Eh...wot?

I am so sorry. My lab has become diabetic and I know it isn't long. I have balled like a baby twice when I was taking her to the vet for what I thought was the last time. The next will be the last because it is not fair to her.

So sorry! I had to bring my 12 yr old dog in 2 weeks ago to have put down. He was blind, deaf and breathing problems. That was hard for me to do.

thank you for the kind words guys. our 4 legged buddies are more people than most people we know. smudgie was very protective of our granddaughter nova...and had been by her side since the day she came home from the hospital........sleeping under her crib or laying within inches of her swinging chair. I know that nova is gonna need a new friend.............and its def gonna be another beagle............but its prob gonna be tad..............gonna be awful hollow around this place.

Sorry about your loss. Had to put our 2 girls down last summer. Friday night finally picked up 2 bluetick beagle pups. Seems like home again.

Sorry to hear. It's a tough thing to have to do but we need to do right by our little friends. I've had to do this too many times and it's never easy.

Thoughts and prayers to the family. It sounds like smudgie was a very lucky dog to have owners like you.
