Is it worth giving this trap a try? I've never owned 1.

I run a few and love them in the right place.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Much like the 660, I think it would be good to have some to adjust to varied conditions.

I have two of them and they are great for certain situations but they take up more room in the boat than 4 330 belisles in the boat. When i pack my boat to go otter and beavering i pack 4 or 5 doz 330 belisle a half dozen 660s a half doz 330 dukes a half doz 280 belisle and those two 1216s .
If I was running a long line of fenced off creeks for otter from the truck I would have more

Is it hard to stabilize the 1216?

I generally like MTP stuff, but this trap is junk, imo. I never did catch anything in the one I had. After a pile of snaps, I eventually traded it. I i once fired it, and after the dog disengaged, it stayed set for several seconds before finally closing. They are slow too. I did only ever have one, so maybe I just had a lemon...

I've got two and have had them snapped time and time again may just need some work to speed them up. I just got these and used them on a beaver job picked up 2 beaver but both were tail caught.

No matter where you go there you are.

Never understood why they don’t work for some. I think they are fantastic in runs. A great submerged otter trap too. I use my trigger in a T. Most beaver are head catches. I stabilize with a KB and a stick through each spring.

I would expect they'd live up to MB's usual high quality standard.

I love mine, they are perfect for wider runs. I had no issues stabilizing mine (use longer sticks) and all but 1 time if it was snapped there was a critter in it. The only part for me is they are a little touchy when setting them, but that is a me issue.
