I think the EU will be splintering up soon and that immigration in the EU will change dramatically. England's Brexit Party did fantastic yesterday. France's government turned conservative. Germany's conservative party is gaining momentum. My relatives in Italy have been posting a lot on Facebook and it looks like Italy will be turning conservative and expelling the African and Middle Eastern Immigrants.

Belgium is wanting to redistribute all the wealth in the EU.

Things are probably going to turn bad as Socialists attempt to control massive numbers of people, who are fed up being controlled.

The union may disintegrate but I am guessing that it will take more time than many feel that it take. Britain is having a difficult time trying to develop their exit plan and it has been over two years now and the leadership will change because of the issue.
Some economic studies show that longer term the EU is the largest benefactor economically while the US/China trade issues last. The economic increases could do one of two things, speed up the drive for independence or cause the EU to unify. Time will tell.

One of the reasons Britain is having a hard time is Theresa May never wanted to exit. She is leaving so we will see.

The EU like the U.S started as a pretty good idea, common defense and freedom of movement between states of a common and similar people. Like the U.S the EU has stopped being a collection of states which operate mainly independently and power has become largely centrally located.

My hope is that the U.S and EU are both saved from Balkanization by peacefully shifting power away from Brussels and DC and instead allow the member states more sovereignty as was intended from the start in both cases.

I was listening to NPR this morning on my way to hunt turkeys. It’s really the only radio station I can get up here at camp. They were spinning the England election results furiously. According to them, liberals won key positions in parliament and it was definitely a statement that the English people do not want Brexit.

It was so ridiculous I had to turn it off.

That is exactly right. The elite do not want it.

Republicans should of managed to defund NPR by now, shows how utterly useless they are, cant even defund the oppositions publicly funded propaganda wing.

I’m old enough now to see that my initial idea about both the EU and NAFTA was correct. Didn’t think either was a good idea.

During the 1970s and early 1980s, the majority of NPR funding came from the federal government. Steps were taken during the 1980s to completely wean NPR from government support, but the 1983 funding crisis forced the network to make immediate changes. According to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, about 12% of the aggregate revenues of all public radio broadcasting stations were funded from federal sources, principally through CPB.

The biggest problem the EU is having is that it's member countries are to disparate in culture, work ethic and wealth. The population of the richer countries gets screwed, paying for the poorer countries citizens and being flooded by citizens, of the poorer EU nations and now African and Middle Eastern immigrants looking for handouts and work.

That was an Idiotic Idea.Having a bunch of Countries that have been at war with one another for centurys with different languages and cultures trying to unite as one.I wonder what moron thought that would work. The UK was never fully vested in that,They kept their own monetary system all the years they were otherwise affiliated.
That is a dumb as if the USA was allowed to be Canadas 11th Province.Never work,Too different.

If you look at how independent the states were originally meant to be then I think one could rightfully argue that individual U.S states had more sovereignty than current EU member states. The U.S is operating far outside the original intent and has been since reconstruction.

https://www.quora.com/Would-Europe-benefit-from-a-US-China-trade-war

The link above does not directly talk about the economic gain but does reference that the 2020 election will determine a lot about how the EU intends to handle trade issues with China and other nations. The EU with Britain in is about equal to the US in economic GDP so those two are the largest developed world economies.
As you can see if Germany aligns more with Russia from an energy aspect and France continues large energy supplies from Iran then those two aspects may well distance Europe from the US over time. The Chinese will play hardball over the technology issues and the US is the leading Tech nation. Who are likely nations to increase technology that can be sold to the Chinese if not the USA? That will be a major driver in the near term trade stuff.
We think of China as T-shirts and tennis shoes but the computer imports are 5-6 fold what the clothing imports are.

It would make more sense to make Canada a US territory like Puerto Rico.

Liberalism and socialism always achieves the exact opposite of its stated intent. I believe the remainder of the normal world is emboldened by our leadership once again. The people of the countries that are seeing them devolve before their eyes is similar to our last election.
