Do they still have night school? Maybe an online course? If you are in a union you can get a leave of absence from work for training and you may be eligible for unemployment insurance to pay you while you upgrade/improve your hireability status. Lots of gov't programs to help people improve themselves here in Canada, not sure about in the USA.

Veteran? Check out the GI Bill. Likely your unemployment office will have all the info you need.

I just asking, should ask admissions or somewhere. No not in Union, work for temp agency , for over a year an half at 1 pt job an other job for cleaning service at office bldgs, the later or cleaning job, pays decent, an much easier than factory job , though temp service , that pay poorly. No u wont get unemployment if quif to go to school, likely nothing snap card if very low income. Like less than $1100 month, not even sure if snap card around, ? There talj them go broke awhile ago ? I make like $1750 month gross. $1500 , take home. No benefits. Or vacation, ins. Or holidays. Pay, quite low ftom what used to get, in 3 years, I can get soacil security , more money in that, plus still work pt. With no deductions. I understand,

I attended tech school during high school. Most of the adults that attended were getting some kind of aid some were actually being paid to attend. I bet you would qualify for some kind of aid. If you can learn the basics of being a machinist you can make decent money the work is not extremely physical and there are lots of jobs available. I say check it out what do you have to lose.

Send your wife out to work. It takes a lazy man that can't find his wife a second job!

I talk to someone in charge at school, I guess nothing for financial aid. Except maybe a loan an that iffy, for what kind aid, I was talking of, it has to be a class of long duration, where u get a degree. Not lot that stuff in tech school, to bad as the tech school campus is 4 miles from home. Located in same town I work in at 1 pt job, there are 2 streets, lined with factories. My other job is just outside of bigger town, not far away. To bad as some ppl go long way from home at tech school everyday , an this 4 miles from home
