I'm making my own cable stakes during off season. This is my first time and really don't want to make a mistake has it would be very costly. I got a swagger crimping tool and I'm using 1/8 cable and ferries at around 15". I noticed on my swagger crimping tool I got it is not labeled on measurements but rather 1,2,3,4,5. Where do I need to crimp for 1/8? My guess is 4. But I don't want to make 200 or 300 cable stakes and put them in ground and be wrong. Thanks. Like I said first time doing and want to do it right.

4 is probably about right. Hard to tell without seeing it. You should be able to tell if you have a good crimp. When I'm making cable stakes, I double crimp all the ferrules.

Crimp and test a few you should be able to look at it and see what one looks the best!

If your swagger is marked in millimeters 1 = 3/64, 2 = 5/64, 3 = 1/8, 4 = 5/32, 5 = 13/64

Not to hijack the thread, but, I triple crimp my ferrules. I've never had a problem, but is this a bad idea?

When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.

I triple crimp ferrules and double crimp stops. No reason not to to be on the safe side.
