How common is it for a pharmacist to mix 2 different manufacturers of the same generic drug for a person's prescription ? Is that legal or even safe ? I know that they are supposed to have the same active ingredients, but; it's the difference in the inactive ingredients that has me wondering if the drugs will work the same as the original prescribed medicine.

I work in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. The inactives in each tablet should be pretty similar as well, and will not impact the effectiveness of the medicine. Generic manufacturing plants are constantly going thru inspections, and right now there is a shortage of certain drugs which is most likely why you got 2 different manufacturers. It has a lot to do with what network your pharmacy buys in too. Pharmacies don’t purchase individually anymore, they belong to networks that purchase for several pharmacies. There are only a small number of actual pharmaceutical wholesale buyers right now, and each pharmacy buys from a certain network.

If you have concerns, I'd contact the pharmacy board. Though you might ask you to the pharmacist themselves. If the pharmacist is part of a hospital, you can go to their administration to.

Found out one generic brand is made in India and the other Generic brand , is made in China. How much oversight do these overseas manufacturers have for the drugs they make over there, and sell here?
