No, not the kind you put on your roof. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. My first goaround with this and aside from the idea of using a dull chainsaw to take off my leg, I'm not getting any relief. Any suggestions???

Shingles are miserable. VA Drs gave me some crème to put on the blisters. I couldn't stand to have clothing touch them. They told me most people only get them once. A few folks have repeat episodes. So far I have not and I hope I don't. May not be life threatening but for a couple days it felt like they were.

I had them in my mid 30’s, very painful. I can’t sit so at that time I had a larger lake home south of here. I’d had it sided with lap redwood, didn’t like the way it aged so it was midsummer I took the power washer and blasted a couple inches at a time back down to clean pink. Took 4 days. It was great. I think the combination of sun and continual mist from the sprayer was the key. The worst was over. Just wore shorts, and it wasn’t a real physical type work. Maybe you can glean something from this that may help?

Had them about 6 months ago on the left side of my face and in my eye. Saw the eye doctor every other day for almost 2 weeks to make sure my eye didn't get permanent damage.
Absolutely the worst illness I've ever had. Missed 2 weeks of work and spent 3 of those days sitting in a recliner chair unable to function. Now, 6 months later, I still get strange nerve stuff going on. Feels like hair brushing cross my face that isn't there, my eyebrow on one side feels like the muscles are twitching when it isn't, and sometimes it feels like half my scalp has poison ivy. I'm on a medication that takes the edge off of the nerve weirdness. The next time I see my Dr, she's planning to send me to a neurologist. I may decide to just live with it.

Yeah, I first thought was I got into some poison oak or some such. Didn't take long to realize that wasn't the case as it doesn't itch, it feels like someone is taking a blowtorch to my leg. My Dr. called in a prescription I need to pick up today that is supposed to stop the virus, he's my new best friend. Good luck to those who ever get this affliction, you definitely have my sympathies.

I've had them twice, the second time was a few years after I got the Zostervax vaccine (the old vaccine). I could tolerate them and still work, hunt, etc because for me it was more of an itch than pain, but the threat of eye damage is my real concern. I've had the first of two doses of the new vaccine, Shingriz, and had just a bit of fever for a day. No big deal. Even if I am much worse after the 2nd shot, it is way better than risking my eyesight.

Somebody told me it felt like somebody had ironed their face. It did.
