Not much weirds me out. My wife says, “Here, read this.” It’s stories as told by a forest service search and rescue worker. Good read if he’s being honest. If you click on the blue links at the end you’ll keep getting more stories.

I have no idea about the stairs. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in the forest but the vast majority of my time outside has been in the sage. The weirdest thing I ever found out in the desert was an old grave complete with a tombstone. Nothing else around it. My boss found a human skull floating in the snake river. He called the police and brought them back to it. That’s about it. Big hairy people taking kids? Now that’s weird.

I'm skeptical. I feel like "bear man" abducting a child would've made the news. And staircases in the middle of nowhere that nobody talks about? Good stories, but I'm not buying what he's selling.

They are good stories. You could write an interesting horror movie about a blurry man, who abducts children, keeps them in a hollow tree and feeds them berries and meat. This plus the random styles of stairs reminds me heavily of a lot of old Irish folk lore, about the good folk and time and dimensional travel. I read the entire Irish folklore section of the library when I was in college.

Interestingly, many of the materials in modern construction, especially the iron and the placement of objects, like studs, doorways and halls was thought to help protect from and prevent issues with the Sidhe Fae in the past. Even the plumbing could help.

After reading some of those I think his SAR title means "Stoned and Ridiculous".

Check out "Missing: 411" on Youtube about all the disappearances in our national forests.

I did not read those stories. But if you want to trap around grave markers in the forest go to Cochise County Arizona. There are many metal markers inscribed with names and descriptions like "killed by Indians date xx/xx/18xx". The graves are old and not apparent but the markers were placed by a humanitarian organization within the last one hundred years.
