Yeah, I know what deer do, lol. Got them on camera doing it.
But I thought he was using blind sets on trails. My question was how do you tell a coyote trail from a deer trail? I have thousands of trails that deer use and coyotes may as well, but they are primarily deer trails. Deer are nice to have but a curse for trapping.
I have noticed since fawning season they don’t investigate sets as much as they did before they started dropping. And for some reason ignore the middle of a two track set but still check out a set off the road.

Im still on the yotes and coons. What a fiasco with the farmer tripping traps, had to mark them and still tripping. The yotes primarily come in through a meadowstrip that is 30 yards wide with knee high fescue. They come in mousing and there is no set entry point to the field. I decided I would go for broke, and try something new. I like to cut trails to direct deer by my bowstands, so I thought I would give it a try with the yotes. I went in the meadowstrip with a weed eater and cut a walking path 6 to 8 inches wide 30 yards long. I let it sit for 3 days and when I checked it there was already scat in the trail. I set blind in the trail and caught the 2nd and 5th nights. So far, its been a week and no more yote tracks in the field. Thats the good news, the bad news is the coons are on full assault. I have lost count, but now they are avoiding DP's so I started blind setting.

I dont know how many of you remember Darrin Freeborough. He died in an untimely accident on the trapline a couple of years ago. I purchase LDC lure from him that is deadly on coons. The coons were ignoring everything else, then I switched to his LDC in walkthroughs and they will not leave it alone. Lots of big boars and sows. So......thats the update. I would love more of that lure.

I caught another yote last night. The trail I cut ended at a soybean field which was about 40 yards wide and adjoining the melon fields. At the end of the cut trail I made a very subtle trail through the soybean field to the melons. At the end of this trail I put in a mafia set and nailed last nights yote.
