Really thought it was to small for that and would put plenty of holes in the hide.. But I thought it was an interesting piece to hang up.. Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes...... Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

Like chicken wire size for making pens, the pegged cross piece is pulled towards the iron hook when cranked. the pegs/nails would catch the meshes holes and the iron hook would grab an edge of a post/crate.

Snowy you are correct..I just googled vintage carpet stretcher and an image shows this same tool.. Oh so kinda boring tool, not very fun to tell whomever comes over and they ask what is that, it's a carpet stretcher...guess I'll make something up that sounds cool..haha Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
