Only good coyote is a dead one.

send him over my way, way too many deer, need to thin the herd.

Caught a fawn this spring.
Doe and fawn were feeding in prairie planting around house.
Told wife that if I went outside the doe would run and the fawn would drop and hide.
Fawn did exactly that.
I walked up to it and picked it up.
It just laid in my hand like a limp dish rag.
Put it down and after I walked away it ran off about 30 yards and laid down again.
Doe came back, checked on fawn, eventually went off on its own.
Doe and fawn were back feeding in field 2 nights later.
Saw another doe and 2 fawns a couple of days later.

good to see we have some predators on deer.

According to our deer biologist coyotes mostly eat voles, moles and mice. If you see deer hair in their scat it was from the coyote eating a road kill. When you have a picture like you do, the fawn was dead and the coyote found it. They don’t believe the SC reports either which I believe are some of the most extensive studies done on eastern coyotes.

My cur killed a fawn the other day. Family dogs kill a lot too.
