Today starts The White County 4-H Fair here in Indiana. Last week I attended the Beef Show at The Cass County 4-H Fair.
My kids and most of my Grand Kids are too old to show anymore, Last year I watyched my Great Grandson show dairy cattle at the local county fair, talk about making one feel old.
How many on here enjoy going to their local 4-H County Fairs?

I've got two kids too old and out of 4-H, and one too young yet. I enjoy watching the stock shows, and watching the kids work hard on their projects. I don't miss hauling stock, tack, feed, etc. to the fairgrounds, and practically living there for the week. And of course, its ALWAYS unbelievebly hot at fair time!

It's a great chance to set up a informational booth about trapping also when my daughter's were in 4H they did that and even skinned a coyote at one of the meetings many parents who were fence sitters but shifted over to the pro trapping side of things.

Today is sale day here. Had a good week. My girls first year showing sheep. My boy showed hogs for 3rd year. My wallet is considerably lighter but it’s been a good time.

My son did all the county fairs in NH....he showed his flock of Oxford Sheep..from age 10-18. Then started doing the open shows. He took about 5 years off and is now buying some oxfords and getting back into it. And to tell you the truth...all his friends are still his 4H friends to this day.

My kids all showed 4h then went into ffa as high schoolers. Grandkids are showing in jackpot shows with pigs my daughter and son in law breed and sell all over. Oldest boy still has a flock of 50 or so ewes and brokers show lambs. He'll start as an ag teacher ffa advisor next year, maybe he's helping to run a show pig operation this summer and loving it sooo?
So of my favorite timez were hauling kids to those shows, jackpotz were are favorites less local politics and really good judges. My boy also judges about 10 or so shows a year now too
