I see they now buy castor, I was wondering if anyone has sold to them or if its that new of an announcement, I’ve been busy and haven’t looked at they website in a long time. Just so people know I’ve sold fur to them and have always had a good experience just wondering about the castor thing.

Castor price is very high now.high demand-high price.Lots of buyers out there.
What are they published prices per grade.That will dictate how much they will get.
The more buyers the better for castor producers.

I couldn’t find the prices, I’m hoping it works well because it would be a lot easier for me, and yes the more buyers the steadier the supply for the end user and should result in a better price or at least a very stable one for us trappers.

Minnesota Trapline Products, sponsor of this forum, is also buying castor. I sold to them 4 or 5 years ago and they were real easy to deal with. I think I heard they were paying $70/lb no grading for WI/MN castor, but you could email them and they will likely get right back to you with a price.

The nice part about groenewold for myself would be if they buy it at the stops, because there are 4 stops within 20 minuets of home and I wouldn’t have to worry about shipping. Tlguy I have seen that MTP buys it, I do like their products and believe they would be great to deal with, just a matter of ease for myself, if I’m hauling fur there to be sold all I’d have to do is take the castor with me, if it works that easy.

Depends on the volume you're selling, too. You're probably in the SpeeDee shipping area which means you could ship to MTP for under $10. Just something to keep in mind. If you're selling a few sacks, no big deal. But if you sell a couple pounds and Groeny is paying $5-10 less per pound...

They don't stop within an hour of me so I'll be selling to ne Iowa guy, his coyote prices were much higher than gwold

Yeah tlguy I’ve seen speedee around here but ups is still the big hauler here and shipping with them can be pricey. Tactical for some reason they have been stopping around here close for probably the last 15 to 20 years.

I only mentioned SpeeDee because every time I've shipped with them, I've been very happy with the results. They only ship around the midwest, but most shipments arrive in 1 or 2 days. I just checked and there are half a dozen dropoff locations in north central Iowa, and you could ship 10 pounds of castor to MTP for less than $7 and it would likely get there the next day.

Just something to keep in mind if you have to ship around the midwest, especially if you have a dropoff close by.

You betcha! I'm lucky there's a dropoff right here in my city. I use them exclusively when I ship in the midwest. Cheaper and faster than the big guys.
