My understanding is that all of the wild fur of the August NAFA sale is held over/ bought back goods. They did not put up any fresh goods for this sale. Any goods that were shipped and didn't make the May/June sale will be held for the February 2020 sale. At this point can you really still consider then fresh???????? Min six months old !!!!!!

The letter mentions having a lot of capital tied up with consignor advances along with unsold goods. Also low clearances on sales and their bank wanting changes to how they do business in some areas as a condition of future loans for operating capital. I can't see how that won't affect the wild fur side of nafa as well. Giving cash advances for fur that more than likely will be be unsold for as long as some has is not a good business model and it wouldn't surprise me if that goes away. There are going to be cost cutting measures and this would be an easy way not to tie up capital.
This is all in my opinion on cutting advances. headed to chapter 11 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope they don't stop advances. Mine were always paid back in full on the next sale within a cpl months. Plus a check from sale, I don't have lots money, going trapping is expensive, especally road trapping with gas. Every day gas, I cannot afford to wait months for check. Unfortunately if this happens. I may be forced to see gfw. On his routes, he rember me an not see him for few yesrs, an when come back. May not be good, he pays good for rats. An some species. But on coon an mink, nafa is hard beat on prices

So it is for a sure thing that nafa well not be giving advanced or only for coyote ? Or just rumor at the time ? Yes if ur furs don't sell an large advance an dont sell, not good, my advsnces in past help me an were pay back fast. They were pretty genuorous on advsnces when poor prices, good section coon is what save me. Be a shame to do all hard processing work an sell elsewhere for possible huge price cut , just because need money Coonman220, You should be the poster child for NAFA. A loyal shipper even though you need the $$ and your pelts may not sell for years. Good luck with your heavy coon and advances.

U got process them an send them where may get best possible price, if u wanna sell them on carcass or just green skin , u definately just doing it for fun an definately pay to go trapping alot, not saying I making very much profit , but I can't see doing a bunch processing an getting the same price a guy is sell green for. Just because he a buyers favorite person, at best, from a country buyer. I say ur making $1 to $2 at most for stretch a coon an doing a good job. An they don't like boarded coon. Maybe dock if put up on wood, in my opinion a wire stretch coon looks sick to a boarded one, maybe this talk of no more advances is rumors an well give some advances, I average $26 plus on coon on June sale, all chesper stuff went for $11 an change in first auction, lot coon went for $30, upper an mid $20s. Upper teens on prices, u don't get those coon prices in country

You'll alwas do better at the auctions if you ship good fur. If Nafa doesn't offer an advance on fur, that will be a first for as long as I can remember. I believe they will still offer an advance for marketable fur. With the state of the current market it may not be much,

The name of the game for Nafa is volume, volume, and more volume. The amount both ranch and wild fur gets smaller every year and Nafa can’t afford to lose any more to competition. I just about guarantee they advance money on fur next year especially wild fur, otherwise there’s not much incentive to ship instead of sell in the country. Might be different with ranch mink, Nafa’s got them by the balls, I believe Nafa processes most North American mink for the ranchers. No where in the letter did it say no advances or even that they are on the verge of bankruptcy, they are cash poor currently because they lent out money to the ranchers, money they will likely get back in August

Coonman, read this very carefully so you understand what I am about to say. It's purely speculation on our part that future advances may be curtailed. A wild guess if you will.

Don't worry coonman, NAFA told me they love selling wild fur so much they will do it for nothing like trappers have been doing most of the time since 1987.

I believe they will still offer an advance for marketable fur. With the state of the current market it may not be much, Depends on what specie of fur you send. I've beat the auctions ave. 3 years running on one specie by selling in the country. One of Fur Takers agents will not pickup for them anymore because of prices paid on last sale. This man has picked up for them for years. He sure knows what good fur is and he sure could have done better in the country.
