A friend of mine and I were pre fishing out at Crooked Creek before the Kids Fishing Day and had two water dippers filling up at Fort Peck Lake yes it's quite a sight to see when a friend of mine and I are out there fishing I was so surprised I didn't think about taking my cell phone out and taking pictures of them.

we used to have a T-28 stationed here to act as a lead plane. It was a real joy to watch Capt. Clay ( USN ret) fly that thing into the smokiest, hottest spots with a trail of WW2 war birds behind him. It was almost like being at the battle of Midway Nothing gets the blood pumping like the sound of a round engine !! That pilot was the late COL Clay Hogan, USAF retired. Clay worked for me for years as a guide and pilot (with his PA-12), but he sure loved to fly those T-28 lead planes during the summer! In his former life he had been a fighter pilot in combat in VN, later the Base Commander at King Salmon and Deputy Base Commander at Eielson. I sure miss him. Pete

Has CH-47s, Huey’s, blackhawks, VLATs, spotter planed, drones, etc. flying everywhere. Basically a broken arrow on fire. Gave goosebumps watching and hearing that much AirPower.

Impressive indeed, Hydro.
Also choppers that perform the spectrum of good service, including Chinooks that can haul everything...the weight carried is astounding.
Flight of all kinds, is a mighty thing , and does such good for so many.
Here’s something you might like Sharon. It’s the Miss Montana which you may have already seen. It was built at the end of WW2 and while it didn’t fly during the war it was still flown to Normandy to finalize the trip. It was also used to drop smokejumpers into the Mann Gulch Fire where sadly 13 firemen (and women?) lost their lives. A very historic plane.

Brennan, yes I love those planes ! Always brings a smile to see Miss MT so well preserved and her history appreciated. I would dearly love to help paint that amazing art on old planes, in renovating them . For me, the DC-3 has many memories, my father flew one all the time in Florida. He was hired to transport supplies from the coast to the British West Indies for some years as the islands were new in development in tourism. That was also the plane my father gave me my first serious lessons in flying, as we flew on those jobs. To me, at that time, it was completely normal for a 16 year old girl to be learning to fly a DC-3 ! Every time I see one, I am always reminded of Da. Thank you so much for the share .

There were some real artists that did those paintings. Wish they’d still allow it nowadays haha Wow that is an amazing story. Almost should be something you write about. I’m sure people would love to hear the details of your experience with your father. Thanks for sharing that. Very cool!

In the 1880's there was not much going as far as airplanes. That was a shot at White17 but thank you for pointing that out. There were cell phones then right?
