This hatchery is in west union he might be able to help you find low cost feed if he doesn’t have any, I have wanted to get up there and talk to them but I’ve just never taken the time.

The float fish bait in large quantities an like $18, would cheap cat food mixed with few small marshmellows an dry jello mix be as effective ? Wouldn't float fish pellets be just as attractive to cats as cat food? Would dry jello mix , make unattractive to cats ? Would dry corn be good mix in ?

Remember a raccoon will eat out of the trash. Stick it in front of his nose and he’ll eat it. Putting it in front of him is more important than nit picking what is in the pipe. Any of that stuff works fine all mixed together.

I've heard that if you find a Mexican with a bulge in his pocket it's probably DP coon bait he's got stashed away. I've heard they may give it to you at a great price.

Would the small marshmellows make it to sticky mess ? Would it be better to mix, right before season an not 2 months ahead time ?

I only use Copper River smoked salmon that has been marinating in expensive French Cognac for at least 24 hours

a 50lb bag of floating catfish food from tractor supply is about 15.00. I spray mine with cheap liquid smoke from dollar general. i recycle plastic water bottles to carry it in. unscrew the lid, shake some into the dp trap and go.takes me about 3 years to use it up.

Sorry I post this at break time at work an hard do when in hurry on phone, dp trapping is kinda new to me as never did much except little until last cpl years, I have always bought bait with good results, but end up use marshmellows when out, I bought gallon of ADC trail mix last season with cheery base with exellent results but used up fairly fast, so I bought 12 pounds of cheap cat food with 3 bags small marshmellows an 4 different flavor dry jello mix Walmart last nite, thinking about get some shell corn or other ingredient to add, don't like using cat food but float fish pellets are close same thing, is different flavors of jello mix ok? One flavor of mix drown other out ? What else could add other than corn ? For dry additive ? So far about $15 at least wrap up in it an about same cost as trail mix,

Wrapped around the axle to attract raccoons? We all do things different but I would assume we're all shooting towards the same goal/results and they will vary greatly depending on population etc. You trapping raccoon who've had a few coon trapping lessons at one of the trapper colleges that now surf the trapping forums and working towards their PhD in bait schemes? Run a trail cam all year and watch how they react to whatever you put out especially during the time you are targeting them and you will save lots of $. This will allow you to see the draw, reactions etc. You will also notice that a good bait won't get recognition if the animal you target isn't there. Takes little to no time to put a cam out and bait an area, especially if someone is concerned about what to add or not and come up with some magical recipe that is supposed to get coon walking sideways to your sets. Plenty of pages on the forums to get you to spend unnecessary money on recipes.

How much ordor does it give out ?

You will also learn very quickly that on many occasions odor is overrated. Just because something has a strong odor doesn't mean it will whack & stack'em. Think about scent control and the crazy things lots of people do to try and "eliminate or minimize" their scent in the field. You telling me with what you have already purchased and being placed out in the open, you need to worry about odor? lol Crazy mane!

Smile, you're an expert!

Cheap and easy to make. Dump into gallon ziplock bag add 3-4 tblsp of vanilla shake and let it absorb. Put it on the trigger. Remove coon next morning

I never try vanilla, I do prefer a dry bait, small marshmellos, mix with dry bait are better than big sticky marshmellows in sun
