today. They are going to do a “plan” on the property.
Can someone tell me what that entails?

Based on what you told them you would like to manage it for, they will make recommendations on timber harvests, possible RX burning, etc.
I have nothing clever to put here.

They should have talked with you enough to get a good basic idea of what your management objectives are. They will then take a look at how productive your property is and what potential it has that’s not being utilized. They will develop a management plan to align your objectives and their professional knowledge to improve your property. They will also most likely put a bit more emphasis on water quality issues. The practices they recommend will possibly come with some opportunity for some sort of cost share program offered through the Farm Service Agency or some other government program. If you don’t understand or agree with all the aspects of the management plan discuss it with them and have them explain it thoroughly. Remember this is a tool to help you manage your property to meet your objectives. 2X The "plan" should be a road map for your short and long term goals. You have to tell them what you want.
