Can you help me???
I saw a video where a trapper glued dirt to his trap pan. I think he was trapping in high wind.
Any way do you have or know of any videos like this?
And what is your thoughts on glueing dirt on pan?
And what kind of glue would you use?
Thanks for any info

I've seen videos for exposed sets for bobcats. One video has a guy with ducktape wrapped backwards so it sticks to the pan. Also others used shingles as their pan for exposed sets.

Trail boss: I think that was probably Steve Woods’ BobCATCHing 1 dvd. Steve glues Cedar duff to the pan. I know a lot of guys that glue dirt to the pan for cats but I prefer corn cob grit. Sand continues to sluff off and break down but corn cob grit doesn’t. It stays where you put it with a good industrial glue. I suggest you use the Loc Tite in a tube that says it works for metal. Spread a thin coat on then turn the pan over in a pan of corn cob grit and press it on. Let it dry well and then wax your trap to seal everything together.

I believe there's a post or 2 in the archives about this. I know there's one about shingles for sure

I used epoxy as the adhesive and dyed it black just because I had some laying around worked great..
Than dipped in wax..

It has made it 2 seasons..

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

Trailboss - definitely some good articles in the archives or elsewhere on here. If you haven't ever tried snipers trapping place search you should: http://sniperstrappingplace.com/tmansearchresult1.php?q=gluing%20dirt%20to%20pan

As mentioned above, the shingle works really well and is replaceable. I use spray on adhesive and a spring clamp. After a catch they're usually in need of replacement, but worth it. I generally just rotate the trap out at that point. The old shingle can be scraped off with a putty knife.

To your question - the spray on adhesive would work well for gluing whatever other stuff (grit, sand, dirt, etc) to the pan as well. I tried rubber cement but it makes a pretty big mess after a while.
