Sounds like both sides are to blame and yes Allan we should be able to just get along. I'm all for wolf management but proposing sending the severed tail and testicles of a wolf to the wolf lovers is absolutely the wrong way to go about coming together for a solution. People need to exercise calm and reasonable tactics when dealing with issues like this.

Predators are controlled by disease, starvation and other predators of which man is the superior one. Thus, regulated hunting and trapping of predators is necessary to maintain a balance for the general benefit of all.
The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I can't speak for the neighboring states or Canadian providence's but we've had wolves before the reintroduction of them here in Montana. Eric, I totally agree sending wolf body parts probably isn't the best choice but putting them up on a pedestal isn't good either the management practices needed to start much sooner than what it was I feel. Idaho is very proactive on its approach by allowing hunting, trapping and snaring wolves Montana and Wyoming it's just trapping or hunting no snaring yet in Montana. Minnesota doesn't have a wolf season yet that I'm aware of they must have to many deer still . The state's that have a thriving wolf population need to get a grip literally on wolf numbers before things get worse than they already are, I feel that the Washington FWP or DNR need to draw up a plan of sorts put it on their website for public comment and then continue onward to public meetings with plenty of security just in case.
Bctomcat I agree with you the more DNR or FWP removes these apex predators it takes away from the sportsmen and women of that state and doesn't put license fees into their coffers

Allan I completely agree with you. Like Rat Masterson said, they are just and animal and should be treated as such like a coyote, deer, etc. Putting them on a pedestal does more harm than good and just gets the wrong type of emotions going. Like Rat said, let's stick with biology here... And steel in the ground.

Trapping is essential. In Michigan, when they instituted a wolf season a few years back, they took out the trapping and made it only a hunt. It was not as successful as it could have been.
