Does anyone know what traps are used for an NTA speed setting contest? Would also like to know what states still have speed setting contests and what traps you use. Our contest in Texas has dwindled in participation which is a shame as we used to have an amazing fun time cheering each other on while taking every fun jab possible at the same time. We have been considering an over 75 category with fewer traps to be set.

I watched a huge-handed man who had never seen a 330 before, compete in a trap setting contest. He wrapped his huge hands around both springs at once, compressed them, and pried the jaws open with his knee and set it. He did not know about the spring safeties. He was not the fastest, but the judge awarded him the first place prize anyway. The fastest trap setter bowed to the guy.

That is the the kind of stuff that makes speed setting fun. It's not the fastest set but often the unique style. Thanks for sharing!

Iowa has age and gender groups for multiple traps, Boys 12-16 220, Mens 330., Youngest trap setter.

Many years the Mens 330 is sub 4 seconds for the winners time.
