Anyone have experience with these? Things to look for, good saw? I paid
226.00 for it at a rummage sale. Came with a saw sharpener and
Some tree climbing gear. Also the bar on it is huge, can I put
A 20 inch bar on it?

That was a good price for it provided it isn't all beat up and running well. It is similar to the 066 and newer MS660. It is a commercial logging saw and a lot of guys loved them. You can put a 16" bar on it if you want. Depending on what all tree climbing gear you got, may be worth what you paid.

That's an 85cc saw. You can put a 20" bar on it but your moving a lot of weight and burning a lot of gas for nothing. Pick up a 40cc or 50cc saw for light work. Good commercial saw. You'll be happy with it.

It was about the only saw used around southern Oregon when i grew up before they shut down logging because of the owls. I prefer the 044 for firewood and ranch chores with a fairly long bar so i don't have to bend over to limb anything.

If I had a 064, I'd put a ripping chain on it and an Alaskan sawmill attachment. IMO it's way too much saw for normal woodcutting.

I've had mine for a long time, and it's been bullet proof.

whats the biggest wood you cut on any regular basis?

the 066av is a big saw but if you get loads of logs , or skid logs out into the field and you spend hours just bucking firewood rounds and all your doing is letting the saw fall throught he wood you can speed up some , shorter bar more agesive file on the chain to match the power

you got a good deal if it is running and depending on the other stuff you likely got a great deal.

pull the muffler and see what the cylinder and rings look like , if you put new rings in early you can avoid a piston and jug many times

I have a 064 and 066 and love them both. They are awesome at cutting ice for beaver sets.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I like cutting wood with a big saw i have very little patience for a dull chain and very little patience for a saw that cant pull a realy sharp chain . They are a great saw if you keep it sharp if not your better off trading it off on a lighter saw, they ballance well with a 25" bar and can rip blocks of firewood to knotty to split very easy
