If u cut them in strips and fry them in butter....you’ll never pass another ground swat. Lol

Boy,thats a tough one.I live in the southern U.P.,we have some "partridge"but it seems to me they hit a low cycle some years ago and never really recovered. When I worked up around the Lake Superior shoreline I saw more there than I did at home.More federal and state property their than you'll hunt, but its big country if you don't know where you're going.

Why go to Michigan when there's good grouse hunting in SE Ohio?

I'm not sure of where the grouse are in there cycle but I drive hwy 2 from one end of the UP to the other and my last trip across in July there were more road kill grouse than I've seen before. I make this trip 3X's a year minimum, this is just my observations...

They weren't on U.S,2 from Escanaba east to Manistique.....I hope I didn't imply to you Tomahawk we have no birds here,I guess I was looking at it as somebody coming from Ohio to hunt, trying to think of the most productive areas for you to hit in the limited time you have.We have a large blueberry plains area that some guys from Missouri camp and hunt every year or almost every year. They get a few birds and have a great time. They bring their Quail dogs and give them a work out. There's birds, just not like there was a few years back.I don't know what the DNR's projection was for this year,I think their problem is a lot of generalizations about hunting,in other words, the U.P.is a huge and diverse area. You mentioned a GEM area in the Garden area, that must be fairly new as I.m not familiar with it,but I do live here and if you do make it down this way and are looking for places to go let me know,I'll show you around,if you can't hunt it this fall you;ll be familiar with the area next time your up this way.

I have hunted the U.P. every year for the last 5 or 6 years. We hunt around Watersmeet so I can't help you on area specifics. If you need any advice on what you will experience or what you need to take etc. let me know. I would recommend a GPS collar for your dogs and a good beeper collar. Water proof boots are a must and boot dryers.
It is what it is.
