Huh? This was so bizarre that I thought it wasn't a real quote.... Nope, she actually said this!
"...in a very few days we succeeded in taking over one hundred beaver, the skins of which were worth ten dollars per pound." Jim Beckwourth (1856)

Only severe mental illness, drugs or both would make someone talk that way.
Keith No, she's just not that bright. AOC, like so many of her generation, have been taught how to parrot Leftist orthodoxy in the guise of academic scholarship. This is the trademark of Postmodernism. Learning how to think and applying that skill in novel situations was/is deemed heretical and subversive by their mentors. So when AOC, and so many like her, are confronted with thinking on their feet, they naturally fumble and spew out incoherent nonsense because they lack the fundamental skills needed for rational thought. I've seen this so many times before that I shouldn't have been surprised, but her babble fit the pattern so well that it was almost too perfect if you what I mean. When Christopher Hitchens went to North Korea he vowed not to reference Orwell's 1984; it was too much of a cliché and he wasn't going to cheapen his experience by leaning on that literary crutch. But, as Hitchens pointed out, you really have no choice because totalitarianism is so predictably uniform wherever it crops up. He joked that someone perhaps handed Kim Il-Sung a Korean translation of 1984, and they took it as an instruction manual. AOC and her cohort are not mentally ill in any clinical sense. They're just mentally deficient in a more congenital sense. The latter cannot be treated unfortunately.

Well stated, mainer. From my viewpoint, you've assessed the situation very well and coherently sorted out the malady in today's "faux intelligentsia".
