I don't think the feds can or will do that. However, more states will certainly follow in some form. Not all, but some.

only thing I could find was a few years old, but only about 650 licensed trappers in VA

250ish trappers in CA is about 0.0006% of their populations
650ish in VA is about about 0.0075%

we are a very much a minority
this tells me, its very important that we support our trapping organizations that are doing things to keep us trapping
also the importance of teaming up with all outdoorsmen as one team

There will still be trapping in CA but it will be the other way around - the state will pay the trappers to trap.

It even made Fox and Friends about 5 minutes ago.While I have no use for California I'm seeing a lot of "Big deal"attitudes from trappers.I wonder what they'll say when they see this spreading like cancer.

thing I always find super interesting about California is that it really is similar to various midwestern states. it's actually very conservative in the rural areas. if you scan the last election results there was no shortage of support for Trump. BUT the cities are huge and hold the voting power and that is democratic. well in their case more like socialism. but california isn't much different than michigan or illinois where detroit and chicago politics sway the entire state except that the big cities on the east/west coasts are even bigger with more sway.

Its already happened.In the mid '80's a 3 year old girl was mauled to death by coyotes,I can't remember what city it happened in.I believe her last name was Keene.The California Trappers Assoc. was under heavy fire then,and then NTA president Don Hoyt with the little girls mother made the rounds and for a time kept trapping alive.I remember the attacks on the mother,many said her daughter got what she deserved,calling coyotes "Gods Dogs".
