I am searching for 8-10 pounds of Round up ready alfalfa seed to reseed a food plot next spring. My renter had several pounds when we originally seeded the plot and now it is time to reseed. The smallest quantity I can find after a search is 50 pounds and I need no where close to that amount and it is kind of pricey! The plot is in a creek bottom area where burn nettles and velvet weed continue to crowd out the alfalfa and round up seems to be the answer. Can anyone help me with a source? Thanks!

^ that is true and I have never seen it work in our hay fields.

Good you found a smaller amount option. When did you till and plow down. The toxicity is in the roots and crowns. We typically recommend a few months if possible but that may not be an option for you. Also you may want to find the most resistant variety for wetter soils that you can. Alfalfa and lower, wetter soils don't mix well and along with weed pressure may be why you are reseeding on a more frequent basis. Might be good to find another legume that tolerates moisture better and stays green into later fall to blend with your alfalfa but then you can't use a round up ready variety either. Alfalfa does not make a dense sod, finding other plants that can fill in the open areas can help. Also cutting it a couple times per year if possible really keeps many weeds at much lower competition levels.

Given what you described, that spot doesn't seem well suited for alfalfa?
White clovers sounds like a better option.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
