Are your plans on track and on your way back? Any Royal Crown left?

I bet he's frozen solid in the midst of gutting an elk. Might become a Wyoming institution for tourists and sightseers to view and oggle over.

I just saw this. Yes, it was successful. We were done in an hour and had a very good hunt. One of many highlights was seeing the grizzly and cub at 20 yards. I will post pictures if I ever get out of this ND blizzard! I spent 5 hours going 100 miles on the interstate this morning before calling it quits.
The old “Magnum 300” did its job as usual and the fat old cow never took a step.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Glad you had a great hunt and a great time. A few weeks back that weather was like that here up north. With 4 feet of snow and roads closed.
Thanks for posting the pictures. The grizzle is an awesome picture. A years back on a mountain goat hunt I was on we seen 5 grizzles two were cubs. It is an awesome site to see them.

Congratulation on the hunt Rob. Many memories to enjoy. Honestly though were even a little scared when you were that close to the grizzly with a cub?

Not at all! All I would have had to do was roll up the window and let my foot off the brake. grin

They were near the summit of a pass that I can’t spell. I have a video of them walking by at about 20 yards that is pretty cool.

Glad you guys had a great trip/hunt,i'm planning on getting back next fall again if everything works out.Cool grizzly pic, when I lived out there I saw 11 in the 10 years, some were a little closer than I liked fishing Slough Creek and bowhunting the Gallatin Range/Spanish Peaks for elk.Safe travel through the snowy Dakotas.

What town are you stuck in? If your stuck in south central ND go check out the lakes and ponds. I have to ask what does the duck migration look like?

We are in Jamestown. We spent 5 hours yesterday going the 100 miles from Bismarck. My guess is that the ducks either froze in or got blown into southern SD. It’s NASTY here!

If you came over Togwotee pass that bear has been seen a lot by people. You must not been able to shoot a bull on the ranch.

Wow, great hunt, awesome grizzly photo and nasty weather all make for a memorable adventure. Thanks for sharing. The weather here is not particularly nice right now either.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Yep, that is where we saw the sow and cub. We could have shot bulls at the ranch and saw some HUGE bulls but I am too cheap to pay the price of a bull hunt. This was strictly a meat hunt for me.

Thanks for updating us and congrats on your hunt. That is going to be some good quality meat in your freezer that should last you and your family the next year. Really cool on seeing the grizz as well. I have never seen one that close.

You learn to pack a BIG club with you now in the western part of Wyo. I have seen as many as 5 bears in one day on that side of the divide and you don't hunt alone!

I was using bear repellent so I wasn’t worried. I told my buddy they were terrified of bacon grease so he slathered himself up with it to keep them away.

For a hind quarter of elk, I would put the plow on the ford and come rescue you..... grin

For a half, I would even rescue that Chevy.... grin grin

Your 32 magnum was more than enough. After you shot your buddy in the knee with it, you should have been able to out run him.

I tried dropping off a hind quarter for that one eyed trapper but he wasn’t home. Next I went to Rally’s but he wasn’t home either. I just hung that hind quarter inside the dog fence so the dogs could guard it for him until he gets back.

Thanks for the thought but I'm glad I missed you. I've never had a piece of elk meat that I enjoyed eating so no big loss. One of my friends that raises elk is getting out of it this year and offered me 1.5 year old cow for free. I said "No thanks!"
