Does anyone have any experience with the .350 Legend for deer hunting? I'm looking at a Ruger bolt in a carbine length.

That caliber was developed for use in states with straight wall cartridge requirements. Slugs kick kids hard, the 350 legend kicks a lot less. Its a 200 yard gun, most people hunting shouldn't be shooting farther than that anyway. Agree, unless you need the straight wall cartridge, I would stick with a common caliber. 243, 308, 30-30, or dare I say a 6.5 creedmoor.

The caliber is so new, there can't be anyone who has much experience with it. You may have to be the guinea pig.

the caliber just came out in early 2019
on paper it is a step above 357 maximum which is a step above 357 magnum both of those rounds have been solid deer rounds from carbines at reasonable distances.
to recoil less and get by with the length of cartridge the do they are running a faster powder at 60K psi if the pressure curve is falling as the gun starts moving then it has very little felt recoil.
for a light , quick handling carbine , with a light low power optic , it should definitely kill deer and not beat you up. but I just haven't shot one
like others have said it was made for the AR market and the Strait wall cartridge market for people stuck playing by those rules.

Often from 30 yards to 150. Anything in particular you want to know? I don't have the legend but I have used a 357 max since the straight walled rounds became legal. They are very similar just slightly different depending on whether you are looking at factory fodder vs reloads, etc. A number of deer have been killed with mine. Its an effective round given the laws it is designed to work within---as in its not a bottle neck long range centerfire. Performs at its best within 200-225 yards. Longest shot I recall personally taking with mine was around 190 yards. High shoulder so it never moved. Lung/heart shots have been what i think of as typical 25-50 yard sprint before fall over.

I have been shooting the 357 Max for about 5 years now, mainly it is a reloader round to get it's full potential, the same thing with the 350 ledgen. Winchester pretty much cherry picked their data promoting the ledgen. The nice thing about the legion is you can buy ammunitions for it and it's pretty cheap, and is a very good option for people in "restricted" areas that only allow straight walled cartridges with a maximum length of 1.8 inches. There are better bullet options available for the max and the legion, I'm not a big fan of pistol bullets at rifle velocities. My hunting rounds for my 357 max in my Encore platform, with 170gr Fury flat tip bullets are running just a tad under 2500fps, according to my chronograph., the legdon can not touch that with a factory round. Any question ask, I've been playing with the max for 5 years or so, the legdon has alot of potential if your a hand loader..
How many different ways can one spell Legend ?
