Just curious if anyone else is going thru what I am.
Quick history. I delivered 24 pelts of several species to GNF in July 2018 at the NTA in Escanaba. I was told 140 day turnaround. I received an invoice shortly thereafter and I paid in full including return shipping. After 8 months I called them to complain about the turnaround. They told me about the labor issues etc. that has been discussed here. At that time they said that they had 9 pelts done and that they would send them to me on their dime. They did so and the tanning job was great. A few months later I read on here that GNF was shutting down and that if you had fur there to contact them. I did so. GNF gave me the option to return my untanned pelts or send them to Tubari at NO additional cost to me. I told them to send them to Tubari. In early August I received one more pelt in the mail from GNF that was sent from their facility in Wisconsin. I contacted Tubari a couple weeks ago to inquire about the status of my remaining 14 pelts. Tubari said that they had all the remaining pelts done except for 5 beaver which they said that they hadn’t received from GNF Wisconsin facility yet. Tubari said the beaver wouldn’t be done until late November. Then they asked if I wanted my bill. I told them that I had already paid in full. They stated that they would check on that and get back to me. Today I get an email with an invoice saying I owe nearly $400. The critters on the invoice included 3 bobcats which I have already received in the first shipment of 9 pelts last March. I’m not sure whose 3 bobcats they have with my name on them. The invoice also stated that the 5 beaver wouldn’t be done until late December now. A groundhog pelt wasn’t on the invoice. I sent Tubari a detailed email of what has taken place to date.
We’ll see what response I get tomorrow. I have the proof of what I paid GNF. I paid by check.

Just curious if anyone else is having this much trouble?

Sounds like there is a lack of communication between GNF and Tubari.

Seems really strange that you would get a few pelts back and then a single pelt and then the rest go to Tubari. Most tanners keep a persons shipment together. Different species may be tanned at different times but the pelts in the original shipment are returned together.

For folks involved with GNF, you’ve got a mess almost as bad as NAFA.

I'm sure when you show your proof of payment Turbari will honor it, I'm just (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) I sent all my furs a month ago to Turbari thinking I'd slip in before trapping season for a quick turn around only to read on here what happened to GNF. Sucks you guys are going through all of that, like the bobcats you know someone's special memory won't be returned to them.

Man did I dodge a bullet on this one. For some reason I decided to try Moyle for the first time this spring. So I sent 21 beaver and an otter to them instead of GNF where I had originally intended

Got them back Monday. It’s a shame what happened with GNF as they did great work for me in the past

Between the NAFA AND GNF issues I can imagine there are a lot of frustrated trappers right now

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

Tubari contacted me by email today. They located my groundhog lol. Apparently it came in a different shipment. Looks like they are going to honor my payment as well. Sounds like all is good. They seem to be standup folks trying to work their way through a strange situation. I have no doubt that it is tough to keep it all straight.

Well, a bit of an update on this disaster.
Tubari finally got the last of my pelts done earlier this month and emailed me that they would ship them as soon as I paid shipping. (48.50) I assured them that I had paid return shipping cost to GNF and that I had been assured that I would pay no additional costs when I agreed to have Tubari tan my remaining pelts. After numerous emails with Tubari and unreturned phone calls to David Karon I paid the ransom and supposedly should receive my fur next week, 18 months and an extra $48.50 later.
In the meantime I sent 18 pelts including 5 beaver, to Moyle in November and 7 weeks later received them back in perfect condition.
I’m done “trying” a different tannery.

GNF used to be great, but after their downward spiral I'm surprised Tubari wanted to in any way attach themselves to GNF. Risky move.

Used for chuck hair caddis patterns. Can't believe they float as good as deer hair.
