Anybody use the copper write-on trap tags. These are the ones that you use a ball point pen to impress your information onto the soft copper. They're cheap - which, makes we wonder if they're not going to work very well. Do they survive at least one catch? I'd be using these on cable restraints.

In a pinch they might work if that's all you have, but order some real ones to use in the future.

I tried the aluminum ones, rolled them up. They didn't hold up for to long. I put them at the end of my extension and the snare loop end. When I went to reuse my extension I'd notice they were usually gone. I use the copper stamped ones now.

The printed name tags are rather inexpensive. In my opinion they are well worth it. I think it would be hard to write your own that would be legible.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

You can buy 100 tags printed with your info on eBay for 21 bucks and they will last. I believe they come with big rings also. I buy mine on eBay 100 at a time. Always carry some with me just in case o e gets destroyed.

Wish I had more time to trap....

In a pinch, cut up a beer can and use a pen on a soft surface to write in your numbers. Wrap it tight around the chain. Will hold up pretty well on water sets.

I use them. Have had a few that got lost with a catch. I print my VA trapper ID number on them roll them up tight and wire them in the middle of my trap chain. Eric

I've used them, as others mentioned they don't hold up. Too much hassle. Get the 100 stamped tags and you'll be glad you did.

I use them on snares but that matches their life expectancy anyway.

X2 they have a short life. Good on snares and when you’re in a pinch. I’m officially a Larry Finch brass tag guy.

After two weeks of using the write your own tags I could not read my info on them. Spend the extra money on the stamped copper ones and avoid an expensive fine.

X 2 Tried them in my early years. One catch and they are usually chewed to pieces and can't find the remains.

Thats what I do also. Tags are cheap but the shipping is too much unless I'm ordering other supplies. I roll mine up in a chain link.

Work great on a muskrat line. I use an actual stamp to get my id on them.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?
