A cable slip noose slipped over the tail and flank fur then hooked to the skinner base will let you skin with out all this added stuff. No gates no rollers no vise grips.

I've had an issue with tearing with the vice grips. I'm wondering if it's because I just made mine on chains attached to the base so the pull straight down instead of having stationary out to the side a bit.
