In the context of coyote trapping, I see some reset right where the first coyote was caught yet others pull the trap and reset just outside the catch circle. What determines how you decide where to do your reset? Personal preference? Amount of blood on the ground from dispatch?

Just curious.

In my experience it has to do with the coyote and not the circle. When I do a remake in the circle I see track all around the set but not in the circle so my preference is to set outside. I have caught I the circle a.few times but I catch another my h quicker if I move the trap a couple feet. I don't care if there is a little blood and that is all I have since I don't use a gun for dispatch. Some claim to stack them up in same set, that is not my experience. I would be interested to hear others take on this as well.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Fox I just leave it in same spot, they get right on the circle the next night or 2. Log of difference between fox and coyote for me. I do find a remake after cat hung a coon is a great coyote set.

Personal preference Imo. I will reset the same set and place a new set just outside the catch circle. Some coyotes don't mind a catch circle and some do. Again just my opinion.

If i have time I remake outside the circle for coyote, here is always wet so the catch circle is usually a mud pit anyway. I have caught coyotes in the same catch circle after a skunk or coon but not allot from another coyote catch. Fox on the other hand as mentioned above will just keep comming , Ive caught as many as eight reds in the same set.

I have done it both ways and both have worked. That doesn't mean both would work on the same coyote. In some cases I know coyotes just passed by my sets until I caught a coon and did a remake, then caught a coyote the next day. Seems like a bit of a crap shoot to me. I just let the condition of the circle determine what to do but never bed the trap where there is blood in the ground.

Thanks for sharing experiences. I put this flat set in using waxed sand/dirt. Seems like it just runs right through my screen pan cover. Hope it isn't under the pan because the whole thing is covered with about 4 inches of snow!
