What if it freezes solid? I have a couple beaver in the freezer. I'm thinking of putting 1 (or 2) stations out, but they may just be a frozen rock
Maybe I'll chop it up a little...get a little blood & meat & fat showing

I've had cubbies out with a beaver chunk in them, but a cat hasn't touched them.

Boco mentioned shaving the carcass with an axe so the cat can get a better bite. If you think you're anywhere near being on location, leave your sets alone, functioning but leave them alone. Add some more Gusto or what have you and be patient. Put out more sets.

Many use cubbies around here, but it takes so long to get a bobcat tag in Wi that I don't think we have a lot of expert cat trappers around. T-man's been helpful.
Last year a guy I know kept getting refusals @ his cubbies. They'd come to it, but not enter. I don't know what you guys's thought is, but I'm thinking of using some cubbies but putting a foothold outside it so I can get the cat even if it doesn't commit.
I have 2 beavers in the freezer. I was planning on using chunks of beaver. Maybe I'll get some beaver sets out & try to catch more so I can use bigger chunks of bait...&/or try some muskrats.

If you use a cubby try a 2 ended cubby or ,see through , where bait is in the middle a trap on each end or a snare on each end .
I have used them when the snow gets bad about snowing every nite keep traps working better also.
But I do rely on a walk thru the majority of the time.

Makes sense. I used Boco's advice on some beaver chunks (like 1 with the tail attached), but I'll plan on probly trying that yet with an entire carcass. Tracks have been non existent for over a week. I've been doing a lotta scouting. New snow Saturday nite may help. Maybe I'll have to be aggressive w/ Gusto, & hope that cats will find it but non targets'll leave it alone.

Good idea red, tho my cable would have to be far enough away so as not to cause entanglement. I obtained a 55 gallon plastic pass thru barrel I may use, but I also recently saw some ideas of natural open 'cubbies,' like what strike2x uses for example.
