Well I got it yesterday afternoon and used it last night.

Ive seen reviews in both directions and I was a bit nervous. It only got down to the upper teens but I was very warm with just my underlayer on.

Ill update this from time to time as it gets colder out.

Which one you end up getting? What did you pay?

$120 to my door. Used. Has a small tear in one bag that I need to address.

I got the 2nd generation one. Green patrol bag, black cold bag, woodland bivy.

Im now curious how to keep the bivy out of my face. I'm a slide sleeper so its not that big of a deal.

All add....the snaps are really something. I had to do all I could to snap the pieces together.

You can get a fiberglass rod and hold it up with that.

Lol

So am I. I've always been so tired when I get the bag. That nothing phased me.

I like cold fresh air when I sleep. Not the warm air inside the bag. So I always close and position the opening so that I inhaled outside air while breathing. Except for some of the nights it dropped below 30.

Good buy at 120

On the real cold nights I'd pile up a mound of leaves and other loose material to sleep on. Give you a little more insulating between you and ice.

Cary a poncho and about 20 ft of para cord to make an improvised shelter.

All that and a little for and you will be surprised how cold it can get and you still sleep comfortably!

Oh yeah no doubt . I sleep with my current bag "no bivy" down to single digits on a bed of spruce boughs.

I'm also the same. I love the cold air. A cold nose is a sign of health right!? wink

If you exhale into a sleeping bag for long you will create a lot of moisture inside the bag from your breath.

Only time that's ever really bothered me is with my baklava. Breathing through that and all the moisture stays right there.

I've never spent enough time in a bag for condensation from breath to become an issue. Not saying it can't be a problem.

I keep 3 baklava on me. Run them under my arm pits to dry them out.

Sleep in mine all the time lol. So far the coldest I've been able to use it was in Texas where it got down to 12 a few nights. Slepts on the space of my 88 inside of both and a wobble and other than my feet being a little nippy I stayed pretty dagum warm. The summer portion is good till about 50 degrees imo. And a good tip is to bring both and use the winter bag in side of its stuff sack as a pillow.

They’re pretty horrible choices for packing in with. Heavy and bulky. Way better options on the civilian side.

For “base camp” bags where size and weight isn’t an issue, I guess they’re ok. If you like mummy bags. I like a “full size” bag for this purpose.

We usually just used our poncho liners.
