Alright, so I have been trapping an old Minimum maintenance road that is now a field road. Well, people still think its a MM road and travel at will. The farmer doesn't seem to care so im wondering if I got some signs made that say something like "Caution, traps beyond this sign". But am wondering if anyone has done this. My obvious worry is a thief coming by and knowing where to look between the signs for traps. I caught someone's dog last week and have been worried since even though im not doing anything wrong.

When I used to trap readily accessible areas, I posted signage indicating that beyond that sign was an active trap line, along with my phone number.
Only got a couple calls in about 8 years, all hunters wanting to know if it presented any danger. I simply advised that if hunting with a dog, there was indeed peril for the dog, (large wolf and wolverine traps about 2-3 ,miles up the trail).
It worked out well.

Just doing what I want now.

We have to post signs here in Oklahoma. Dumbest thing ever. You might as well just put up a sign that says "free traps!" with an arrow pointing to your sets. I have had many of them stolen and I think signs are the #1 reason. And I'm not talking about traps set in the ditch or in sight of the road either. Couple of years ago I had them walk into private land i had signs on and follow my 4 wheeler trail to pick up my traps. What they couldn't carry off they shot to pieces with a 30-30.

I had to use signs at a couple places last year. I made up some sign that read CAUTION “Stored Energy Devices in Use Beyond this Point.”

I have to take some coons off a piece of our ground close to town this year. I know town people trespass. I’m going to post signs. I’d rather loose traps then take the chance of giving trapping a black eye. Even if they are in the wrong trappers get the blame. JMO

Ask the owner first! Maybe put up a chain across the "Road". Where are these people going?

Its a road that connects one minimum maintenance road to a gravel road.
