Only one bidder on your fur. Maybe, but you can always walk away. I have sold to them 4 times and they never held my fur for another auction or until they went broke. I compared what I got to auction results and I feel I did as good or better. There is no commission, shipping fees, drumming fees, or unwanted magazines. Just a good check on the spot. Everyone can make up their own mind but I will be waiting in Harrison Michigan on December 20th to get paid.... Groeny fills a niche for several trappers throughout the country. I've used them and was happy, although, I generally sell the majority of my fur at auction. To each their own.

Fur market is like any market, up and down. I don't care where you sell, you will only get what market dictates. I agree to each his own. By comparison I feel I do as well by selling to them. No commission or other fees taken out so even if sale price is less, is it 11 percent less? I buy and sell scrap metals all day long and it is basically the same. Some are happy with what I offer and others complain get sell anyway and others will take stuff and go. I am fine either way, I know what my margin is.
Wish I had more time to trap....

Well I have sold to GFW on several ocassions. He talks a good game on video. Says he pays more for well cared for fur. That is total B.S. I took two dozen cherry picked coon clean, brushed deburred and averaged two dollars less than a guy with the muddiest burred up fur you ever seen. Don’t have many options to sell so we get stuck with one option. I have taken back fur on as many occasions as I have sold to them and I always get a smart&$$ remark from the guy on the truck when I ask for it back. I have taken well put up stuff several times and they act like it offends them to no end. I do not like their demeanor and the average they try to keep. I don’t trap early blue fur if it’s junk I throw it away and it’s not hard to grade fur. Yes their checks have always been good and they pay on the spot but all that pretentious grading and then throw all the clean and dirty furs in one pile his average not hard to figure out. Like was said a big talker talks about the few $15-$20 coon and you never hear about the dozens at $2-3. Have to disagree with you. I have sold to the groenewold fur company over 18 years...I always take good care of the fur I catch and the checks always resembled that. I have sold to 4 buyers in that time frame...but 2 of them consistent over the years. When I came to window of the truck they knew me, knew I didn't cherry pick and nit pick...I brought what I had and it was going to be taken care of. That is why they pay another guy more than others sometimes...they know the seller well and know they aren't getting junk

I can look at anybody’s fur whether I know them or not and tell you if it is junk or not and I’m no fur buyer.

i will go see whats up. strike 2 x for 100 bucks nafa would lower the sellers commission to 9% and free shipping. That is 5000 dollars worth of of fur to break even on commission. When they first did it, it was 5 years at a time. Was well worth the cost. Bottom line is for all the problems I had with NAFA I got more money shipping to them than I got selling to a single buyer if talking about totals. There were occasions that was not true. But added all together it is. Especially western cats. When talking spotted up westerns where and who can make a huge difference. No matter the market. Look through this and Papas is owed over a million by NAFA https://www.insolvencies.deloitte.c...aspx?searchpage=Search-Insolvencies.aspxThat can't be good. Well got a little time to see what the cat market does. Have not made my annual trip to catch a few. This whole NAFA thing has sure made a shaky market shakier.

Danny, When you go to the window the first thing you do is hand them your trapping license so they can log in the information. After looking at everything, one species at a time, they will tell you haw many each at what price. Then on to the next. If you have a question ask after each batch. When done your check will list everything sold, how many each at what price. You can use that half of the check for your records. I just sold yesterday to them and had one whopper yote at $60, 2 @ $40, 2 @$30, 2 @ $15 (pups). Coons were $2-$10. $2 ones were small. It's worth a try for you.

I paid my fur shipper council fees and still have 2 years left on that. At 9 percent it is still 9!bucks on the hundred. I don't trap enough and don't have Western cats so for me Groenwald is a fit. I will agree it may not be for everyone. I used to brag up nafa a few years back how I drop fur off and they send me a check. Talk about easy.
Wish I had more time to trap....

I have 6 deer hides that I'm going to haul down to the stop tonight. I'm not taking any fur but I'll do some listening.

When I speak of favorites It's not about that persons fur. It's about his advertising what he got to the locals. Those inflated prices draw trappers like rats to cheese.
And of course the next guy gets It In the shorts to make up for what the favorite got. Good or bad It's called doing business. You can't fault a man for trying to make a living.

I have found that what some people think are "well put up" is not even close to what it should be. Seen a lot of poor put up jobs. LLL
