Google R Grizzle leather - Ryan Grizzle, out of TN I believe.. I received a belt from his shop as a birthday gift a few years ago.. You want to pack a 1911 (my preferred OWB) or anything under (Springfield SDS IWB) that size it's the absolute best.. Spendy - i'm thinking like $130.00 but mine is going on 4 years old and no sag or stretch whatsoever... Excellent product for EDC situation.. The down side if you get one of his (generally a three month wait) you will want a holster, etc...

I wear a Galco leather belt for everyday carry. It's a great, double thickness belt to conceal carry a handgun. Most of the respectable leathersmiths offer great belts and other products.

Glad to hear that Ness. I think my next one is in 3 years.

Anyone use a Versacarry belt? They have a couple of gun belts on sale right now for half off ($21 and $27) and they are made from water buffalo. They also have plenty of holsters and mag pouches with the same half off sale.

I have a couple of belts made by Simply Rugged. At about $80 a piece.

A few years back I was working on the road and decided to take up leather work. It gave me something to do in a motel room besides watch TV... I like it enough that I started getting heavy into it in the last 6 months.

Besides a key chain fob or little trinkets like that, a belt is about the easiest project for a beginner.

For Christmas, all the guys in the family are getting belts made of English bridle leather... I should be able to finish them in an afternoon. The ladies all get new bags made of bison leather with suede linings... Weeks of work, tons of sewing.

Funny thing about bags for the ladies... Women will chuck serious money at you for a handmade bag. I almost think I could quit the electrical gig and do leather work full time.

Veg-tan is what you want... Chrome tanned has residual chromium salts in it... Not good for metal objects.

I've made a concealed carry purse for a woman out of oil tanned leather which is usually chrome tanned before it's oiled... But I informed the lady that she cannot leave the gun inside it all the time when she isn't carrying it... But she insisted that's what she wanted.
